Students and fans with disabilities need to know how accessible a facility is, especially prior to the event. Often they'll search on the Internet to find someone that they can contact. No one wants to show up somewhere and then find out that it isn't accessible to them. To make that process easier, SIDEARM Sports recommends including accessibility information on each facility page for that specific facility.
Information that would be valuable to students and fans with disabilities
Are service animals allowed?
Is there accessible seating?
Is there a specific phone number to call?
Do you have a TTY number for Deaf fans? If yes, add it on this page.
Can companions sit with attendees using wheelchairs or mobility devices?
Is there space for service animals?
Where’s parking for disabled fans?
Is there a specific entrance that’s accessible? Provide directions to this entrance.
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Are there stairs, escalators, or elevators?
How far is the walk from the parking lot to the entrance?
Are there accessible bathrooms?
Does the fan have to bring any documentation to get access to the accessible seating?
Will there be sign language or real-time captioning?
Will there be flashing lights, loud music, or other sensory triggers?
